Intercept Releases New Generation of Design Automation Products

Design-to-Manufacture with Integrity Checking Reduces Time-to-Market Up to a Full Week

ATLANTA, GA – September 3, 2008 – Intercept Technology, Inc., a leader in advanced PCB/Hybrid/RF electrical engineering applications, today announced a new generation of design automation products. The product suite, including DrawingX, QCX and ReleaseX, was co-developed through Intercept’s technology partnerships with major customers. These three products work together to fully automate the post-processing of a completed design, from quality control checks to drawing package creation, and finally to generation of release packages for delivery to manufacturers.

Among the suite, DrawingX draws the most notice for giving Pantheon users the ability to fully automate drawing package creation, shaving up to a full week from one design cycle. All drawings are generated and stored in the native Pantheon database, and are viewed in PDF or a native Pantheon format.

“A benchmark run of DrawingX in one customer design flow has shown us a savings of forty to fifty man hours in one design cycle,” said Mark Hampton, Senior Applications Engineer for Intercept. The timesaving user flow utilizes reusable profiles with company standard settings to ensure uniformity from project to project, and powerful options such as auto-dimensioning and auto-generation of standard notes. Users can automatically create all required drawing features, such as stack-up diagrams, bills of materials, drill schedules, critical circuit details, and mechanical board details, in minutes rather than days.

QCX, Intercept’s advanced quality control management option, maintains a comprehensive rules set of Electrical Rule Checks (ERCs), Manufacturing Rule Checks (MRCs) and Design Rule Checks (DRCs) tailored to meet a specific manufacturer’s requirements. Each rule and its status are maintained within Mozaix and Pantheon, along with a full notes history of each change in status, from Pending to Corrected to Approved. QCX offers designers and managers a detailed look into what might go wrong with a design, thus providing insight into possible improvements in the design process that ensures the integrity of each manufactured product.

Following the user flow from quality control checks and drawing creation, ReleaseX completes the design automation suite by reducing the creation of design files, or release packages, to a few pushes of a button. Any number of output files can be generated in native or tar format within a user-specified folder structure, with options such as bundling them and posting them on a user-specified FTP site or notifying a person by email when the release package is complete.
